Donate to Your RCD

Your RCD has helped western Sonoma County for 75 years to protect the natural resources we all depend on. We couldn’t do it alone. Will you consider giving a gift to help wildlife and local agriculture thrive, ensure clean and reliable water, and combat climate change?

Make a Donation to Support Your RCD

Your tax-deductible donations are leveraged at a ratio of about 27:1, making them a very effective use of your charitable dollars. Your tax-deductible donation is critical to close the gap for us to provide free, non-regulatory assistance to landowners wishing to voluntarily manage their natural resources. Read below about the many ways donations have supported your RCD's work in just the past year!

To donate, please mail a check to our office at:

Join the Deep Roots Monthly Giving Program

By joining the Deep Roots Monthly Giving program, you empower the RCD with a monthly donation amount of your choice.

We’ve named our monthly giving program Deep Roots for many reasons. One reason is that our RCD has deep roots in Sonoma County. At first an agency of farmers, established in 1941 by local berry and apple farmers, dairymen and cattle ranchers, the RCD has over the last 75 years become an agency for farmers. Leading on a long and deep history, the RCD team continues to help this district’s farmers and families.

We also call it Deep Roots because your donations allow us to deepen our roots even further: With your donations, we can bring more services to the district, such as well water-level monitoring and renting the no-till drill. We can host more public outings. We can power our team to write essential grant proposals to bring more programs to your district. Your donations also help keep this modest RCD’s lights on.

Even with a commitment as small as $5 per month, your donation is a vote of your support. Your donations allow us to do more, be more and feel the support of our constituents. All members of our district benefit from the work we do, and we hope that with donations, our constituents can promote our work even further.

With the help of donors like you, this past year we have...

Addressed Drought by installing rainwater catchment projects totaling 367,000 gallons of stored water on rural residential and agricultural properties in 2017. By creating winter-water storage, these projects provide sustainable summer water resources for human water users at the same time as they preserve summer stream flow in local streams for wildlife and overall watershed health.

Improved Water Quality in the Laguna de Santa Rosa by working with dairies to reduce nutrient pollution through the LandSmart program.

Addressed Climate Change by preparing carbon farm plans for our farmers and ranchers and by providing landowners with the tools they need to be drought-resilient.

Enhanced Salmon Habitat by increasing water instream, improving rural roads, installing large wood habitat structures and winter refugia habitat, fencing livestock out of streams, and repairing and replanting erosive gullies.

Promoted Soil Health by providing the services of two no-till rangeland seeders to landowners to seed their property in a manner that conserves fuel, increases soil moisture and improves soil fertility.

Engaged Youth & Families through 12 guided school field trips for 3rd-6th grade children to explore our local agriculture and ecology, totalling 271 students, through the TEAM Field Trip program.

Shared the News reporting the work your RCD does and the many resources that are available through your RCD and other local, state and federal organizations to support your engagement with natural resources issues and activities. News is published through our Facebook page, monthly e-news and annual newsletter.

And with your help, we can do so much more in 2018.

THANK YOU to our donors.
